Neighbors play an important role in our lives. Their lifestyle, friends, and social habits can have a strong influence on our lives. So its a good idea to get along well with neighbors and build a better relationship that will last for many years to come. But how should you get along with your neighbors?

When you hear of a special need you can meet, do it, such as sitting with a sick child while your neighbor goes to work or taking an elderly parent to a doctors appointment when their car wont start.

If you hear that someone close by is ill, has an accident, or is out of work, give him or her a hot meal or a fresh dessert (甜點). Your kindness will add a special feeling during a difficult time. If your neighbor is cutting down a tree or building a doghouse, offer helping hands to him or her. There is no better way to build relationships. Besides, you never know when the favor might be returned.

Exchange holiday cards, gifts or traditions. Invite your neighbors over for a cup of coffee or lunch. A backyard barbecue can be a great way to share food and fun. If theyve watched your kids grow up or been concerned about your family events, they may want to share these special events.

Plan a party. Invite all your neighbors to your party. Planning and carrying out the activity helps everyone to know and understand each other.

Going green seems to be fad (時尚) for a lot of people these days. Whether that is good or bad, we cant really say, but for the two of us, going green is not a fad but a lifestyle.

On April 22, 2015, we decided to go green every single day for an entire year. This meant doing 365 different green things, and it also meant challenging ourselves to go green beyond easy things. Rather than recycle and reduce our energy, we had to think of 365 different green things to do and this was no easy task.

With the idea of going green every single day for a year, Our Green Year started. My wife and I decided to educate people about how they could go green in their lives and hoped we could show people all the green things that could be done to help the environment. We wanted to push the message that every little bit helps.

Over the course of Our Green Year, we completely changed our lifestyle. We now shop at organic stores. We consume less meat, choosing green food. We have greatly reduced our buying we dont need. We have given away half of what we owned through websites. Our home is kept clean by vinegar and lemon juice, with no chemical cleaners. We make our own butter, enjoying the smell of home-made fresh bread. In our home office anyone caught doing something non-green might be punished.

Our minds have been changed by Our Green Year. We are grateful for the chance to have been able to go green and educate others. We believe that we do have the power to change things and help our planet.

1. Why was it difficult for the couple to live a green life for the whole year?

A. They were unwilling to reduce their energy.

B. They were expected to follow the green fad.

C. They needed to perform unusual green tasks.

D. They didnt know how to educate other people.

2. What did the couple do over the course of Our Green Year?

A. They sold their home-made food.

B. They chose better chemical cleaners.

C. They ignored others non-green behavior.

D. They tried to get out of their non-green habits.

3. What can we infer from the last paragraph?

A. The government will give support to the green people.

B. Some people disagree with the couples green ideas.

C. The couple may continue their project in the future.

D. Our Green Year is becoming a national campaign.

4. What can be the best title for the passage?

A. Celebrating Our Green Year B. Protecting the Planet

C. Keeping Open-minded D. Going Green
